The traditional choice for indoor hydroponic lighting is High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights. While HID lights are adequate to simulate the intensity and required wavelengths for Photosynthesis, HID's are not the most efficient solution. High quality High Pressure Sodium bulbs waste the majority of the light produced because only 30% is of usable wavelengths for photosynthesis. Specialty scientific instruments and advanced light spectrum analysis devices are able to measure this loss accurately. Traditional HID lighting systems require a lot of power to operate. They produce significant unwanted heat in the process, which means growers need to factor in the cost of cooling. The traditional HID choice comes with high operational costs and results in a waste of energy.

LED technology is nearly 50 years old, but only in the past few years has the technology advanced to the point that LED light output and energy efficiency matches or exceeds traditional lighting options. The lumen output per watt of LEDís has more than doubled since 2008. The highest quality LED's are now comparable to HID lights in terms of lumens/watt output. More significantly, LED's now beat out the competition in PAR output. PAR refers to the actual light needed for plant photosynthesis. LED's are truly energy efficient and cost effective.

The specific wavelengths required by plants to grow and flower are at the 420nm, 450nm, 630nm, and 660nm wavelengths. Red light is needed for flowering and yields, and blue light helps with node intervals and encourages faster growth and absorption. Our product produces these wavelengths, scientifically balanced to be 70% more efficient. BC LED GROW LEDís use the optimum combination of 60 degree, 90 degree, and 120 degree LED chips to maximizes light coverage for the grow area.
